When should I get to Thailand?

Do I need to book my flight?

Yes - Please book your flight as soon as possible.

Do I need to book my room?

No - Once you RSVP, we will automatically reserve a room under your name.   The deadline for RSVPing is May 31, 2018.

Will food and drinks be provided?

Yes - There will be breakfast, lunch, high tea, dinner, and after party meals over the course of the 3 nights and 4 days.

Am I invited to all the events?

Yes - The first night is the Welcome Dinner, during which all of the guests will meet each other while enjoying good food, drinks, and music.

The second day begins with a Mehendi Pool Party, where guests will be able to get their mehendi (henna) applied by artists, get Thai massages, play lawn games including kite flying, and - of course - enjoy the pool!

The second night is the Sangeet, during which many family and friends will perform choreographed dances, songs, and other performances.  This is one of the liveliest events as this is the last night before the big day!

The third day is the day of the wedding.  It will begin with an intimate Haldi Puja, which will be held separately for the bride and groom.  At this ceremony, the family will attempt to "beautify" the bride and groom by smearing besan (yellow gram flour) wherever they can - this can get messy!

After the Haldi Puja and lunch, the groom will have his Sehra Bandhi and Baraat.  The groom's sister will tie a traditional headdress on the groom, he will be mounted on his elephant, and the procession to the wedding ceremony begins.  Be prepared for live music, a mobile bar, and a lot of dancing!

The Baraat will end with the groom's family meeting the bride's family, as everyone awaits the bride's arrival.  After her arrival, there will be a Jaimala during which the bride and groom exchange flower garlands.  Then, all guests will move to the mandap for the wedding ceremony, during which the bride and groom will take their seven Pheras (rounds around the fire) as they make their sacred vows to each other.

Following the Pheras, there will be a cocktail hour during which guests can choose to either mingle or change for the Reception.  At the Reception, the newly-married couple will be introduced and family members will give speeches, blessing the new couple with a happy, healthy, and prosperous life.  This is the last event of the wedding, and will include some other surprises as well!

What if I don't have any Indian clothes?

You can rent Indian clothes online from HOX NYC or Borrow it Bindaas.
